Beauty Bit: Quick Fix for Dry Nails & Cuticles

Whether if the weather is changing or not, my nails always seem to be dry. Excessive hand washing, nail polish remover, cleaning, and doing dishes all contribute to my flaky nails. My Nature's Bounty Hair Skin & Nails vitamins (detailed review here) have been doing wonders to make my nails hard and grow fast, but my cuticles and nails still peel. But I found a quick fix using just extra virgin olive oil found in my cabinet. Start off with my At-Home Manicure before doing this for maximum results. With clean nails (no polish is best), pour a little in a bowl and soak for at least ten minutes. Wash you hand with a tad bit of moisturizing soap (just in your palms) and dry your hands. Some of the oil should still be on your nails, so just rub the extra around your nail and cuticle. Your nails will be so much more smooth and soft, and shiny! Its so nourishing for your cuticles and hands. It can also be done on your toenails and feet too, since they are even more dry!
Olive oil is not only good for your nails, but it is great for hair and skin too. Let me know if you'd like to see an At-Home Remedy post on olive oil to learn all about its benefits.

Let me know of you all like these short types of posts. I love sharing little things I find. These Beauty Bits are similar to my Beauty Tip of the Week series, but they will be more random then once a week.

  1. Hi Gena,

I found your site while looking for a solution to my dry, cracked cuticles. I appreciate all of the work you have put into your site and I can tell you are passionate about what you do.

That being said, I think the pink font color is quite hard to read when scanning for the answer to my question. The link in your profile box at the very top is broken and the layout on the right overlaps with other things on the page. This could be a very great site if you take out all of the clunkly extras and streamline it a bit!
