VIDEO: Sonic Foundation Brushes Compared - SonicBlend vs BlendSmart vsClarisonic

Thursday, May 25, 2017

Sonic makeup brushes are the latest in beauty-tech, and they are designed to give a more flawless airbrushed application of foundation. Several brands are making their way to the market such as Michael Todd's SonicBlend, BlendSmart, and the Clarisonic Makeup Brush head. Each are very different, and have advantages and disadvantages. Some work best with only thin texture foundations, and others work with all types.

The SonicBlend, pictured on the far left, uses sonic technology and to blend makeup faster and more evenly. It uses 400 micro-movements per second that press foundation into the skin, versus rotating brushes that can causes streakiness. The brush head is also made of anti-microbial bristles to avoid bacteria growth. It has 3 speeds which allow you to use it with several formulas of foundation and is rechargeable.

It also comes in 4 different colors and has 3 different brush heads which are available separately.

The SonicBlend retails for approx. $62 when ordered through my 20% discount link.

The BlendSmart, pictured in the center, is a rotating makeup brush that has a magnetic brush head. The brush has 1 speed and also is powered by battery. The duo-fibre bristles are not dense, therefore work best with lightweight liquid texture foundations.

The BlendSmart retails for approx. $69 at Sephora.

Finally, the Clarisonic Sonic Foundation Brush head can be applied on any Clarisonic device. This one is the least dense of them all and will work best with BB creams, tinted moisturizers, and thin foundations. Just like the others, the bristles are anti-microbial. The main difference from the others is that the bristles are non-porous as well, which allows for easier cleaning.

The Clarisonic Sonic Foundation Brush Head retails for approx. $35 at Ulta. Clarisonic bases (purchased separately) are approx. $129-$219.
